Golden sun rays, picturesque views, attention to detail, and an iconic setting: these were the heartwarming elements that made up the Manning Cartell show at last week's Resort 2017 Australian Fashion Week (MBFWA).
Having long been one of my favourite Australian labels, run by three immensely talented sisters, this was not a show I was going to miss. Set under the north end of Sydney Harbour Bridge, models stormed out in an intricate criss-crossing pattern wearing the Diaphanous collection. The clothing was colourful, with loose structure, and (increasingly trendy) straps floating off pants and dresses in the most delicate manner. Jewellery was gold with marble accents, and oh-so-oversized; it matched the garments perfectly.
There were just so many easy to wear, relaxed-but-dressy looking pieces that this fast became one of the best shows of the week. That warm glow of the Sydney Sun streaming in under the scaffolding looking out to the Opera House didn't hurt either!
